Tax Lard and Salt

Don’t let the Government put the price of fuel up. The cost of living is directly linked to the price of fuel. If the price of fuel goes up then the price of everything in the shops goes up. We are going to be carrying the burden of debt for decades. I think that the Government should keep the price of petrol low and tax lard and salt in food products. Keep healthy food cheaper and junk food at a premium. Tax junk food and keep petrol capped.
I can’t believe I am advocating a crisps tax because I am passionate about salt and vinegar crisps but for the sake of the cost of living I am willing to eat carrots. It’s time to stop frying and start boiling.

There should certainly be a large tax on McDonalds wrappers. The idle swines who buy that crap then drive 7-8 miles to throw their rubbish out of the car into my sodding lane.
Load, take aim, FIRE!!

Exactly!! Fine Macdonalds and make them pay for the litter louts! How can people throw their rubbish out of their car? It never ceases to amaze me!

They’re trying to introduce a 4 cent per bottle tax on soda, beer and water here in Baltimore. I’m all for putting the tax on soda because that’s just junk and even beer but water is healthy so it seems a bit daft lumping them together. Reason they want the tax being the local council has a huge budget deficit. Suffice to say shopowners are pissed off ie
“If this is passed, I’m toast,” said Rob Santoni, owner of a Southeast Baltimore supermarket.
might work in the UK though??

At least petrol is cheaper – here petrol is already taxed at 80% so any hikes are crippling to inflation.
Taxing water is criminal – maybe they should tax Macdonalds for creating so much garbage – make business pay instead of punishing the consumer! It makes me mad that the consumer has to pay for the choices of business.

Been away for a wee while, my work have capped my expenses for driving in with a 25% reduction. Before they did this I was struggling to pay for fuel with the budget they set. Now its really expensive.
When I was a young student I had to live off baked beans, weetabix and powdered milk, I pinched sugar from the refectory. I swore that I would never ever stoop to this kind of diet. I get a good wage which is heavily taxed on vehicle fuel insurance and VAT. The prices in the supermarkets has risen, even things like veg is expensive.
I can not ever get a mortgage cos of a bad debt which now is thankfully managed, it feels like I am paying the price for a bad government and the scandalous behaviour of the banks. Those bankers should be in prison.
The bank spent years hounding me to pay off a debt, bullying and terrorising me with phone calls and letters. When they were squandering money.
They should fine the banks, tax fast food, and apply a poverty demarcation on essential food items so the poorest can feed their families. make it illegal for supermarkets to overcharge for essentials.
Rant over, just very upset that I am responsible for my debt but having to pay off someone elses debt ie banks, government.

I agree! I think they should tax supermarkets and manufacturers for the production of consumables that are in packages that go into landfill as well. I don’t understand why the consumer has to bare the cost of things they can’t control!
